The Centre for Planning and Evaluation of Social Services was founded in 1997 as a central research institute of the University of Siegen. Since 2022, ZPE is a research institute of Faculty II (Education – Architecture – Fine Arts). Also in 2022, it was renamed the Centre for Planning and Development of Social Services. ZPE’s activities are interdisciplinary and supported by members of multiple faculties.
The position of managing director was hold by Prof. Dr. Johannes Schädler from 1997 to 2022. The current managing director is Dr. Martin F. Reichstein. Heike Krütt is head of the ZPE office.
Strategic orientation and professional work are coordinated by the board. Current members of the ZPE board are Prof. Dr. Albrecht Rohrmann as speaker, Prof. Dr. Benedikt Hopmann and Prof. Dr. Claudia Müller as representatives of the professors and Lena Bertelmann und Dr. Manuel Theile as representative of the academic mid-level faculty. ZPE’s general assembly advises and supports the work of the board.
