Report on LOCDEV-Workshop at Koforidua (Ghana) on 6 November 2024 was published

Thanks to support from the Government of North Rhine-Westphalia and Engagement Global  NRW funding the ZPE-LOCDEV research group has the opportunity to investigate the key political instrument of Medium-Term Development Plans (MTDP) in Ghana and to gain insights how issues of socially vulnerable groups are tackled in the plans. In the MTDP-process national guidelines are operationalized by the municipalities/districts in local four-year plans. In close cooperation with partner districts of Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Suhum and with the Regional authorities the ZPE research group analyzed the 33 plans in the Ghana’s Eastern Region with regard to “vulnerable target groups” and formulated preliminary findings.  Together with the Regional Planning Council in Koforidua, the regional capital, on November 6, 2025, interim results were presented and discussed at a large workshop with planning officers from all districts in the region. The regional director and the regional minister, who had already been to NRW, also attended the successful conference.

The workshop report can be downloaded from https://u-si.de/t72Zi. A further workshop for discussion of final results will take place on 6 May 2025 again in Koforidua, Ghana.
